En al het vet neemt hij er af, zoals het vet van een dankofferschaap er afgenomen wordt, en de priester ontsteekt het op het altaar, bij de vuuroffers van den Heer. Zo bewerkt de priester verzoening voor de zonde die hij begaan heeft, en erlangt hij vergiffenis.
